Gordon Ridgway
Gordon founded the farm in 1980 with the help of his late father Bruce and mother Kitty. The farm was just land when they bought it, but thirty years later, there are many buildings on the farm, many built by Gordon himself. Gordon is the first selectman of Cornwall, and was first elected in 1991. He is an active community member, especially with the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department. Gordon is proud of his Scottish and English heritage and is an avid baseball fan.
Jayne Ridgway
Jayne was born in Alabama and lived the first five years of her life there. She then moved to Connecticut, and finally to the Northwest Corner. Jayne is a Housatonic Valley Regional High School and University of Connecticut graduate. She married Gordon and moved to the farm. Jayne has a passion for animals and especially helps the farm by coordinating the flowers. Jayne is the registrar of voters in Cornwall and is an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician with the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department.
Elizabeth Ridgway
Elizabeth is Jayne and Gordon’s eldest child. Elizabeth loves animals, especially the cattle. She was an active member of the Busy Famer’s 4-H Club for several years, and some of her fondest memories are of showing cattle. Elizabeth graduated from St. Lawrence University (#herewegosaints). You may also see her volunteering as an EMT with the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department, hiking with her dog Fenway, or working as a nurse in the Emergency Department at Sharon Hospital.
Ian Ridgway
Ian is the middle child of Gordon and Jayne. Ian loves to drive the machinery, especially the biggest tractors. Ian is a hard worker and is frequently found at the farmer’s markets helping out. Ian recently graduated from Dickinson College, majoring in Environmental Studies. He enjoys sports and the outdoors!
Rebecca Ridgway
Rebecca is Gordon and Jayne’s youngest child. Rebecca adores animals, especially the horse and dogs. Rebecca loves to ride the horse and help out at the farmer’s markets. Rebecca is a Hamilton College student, who intends to graduate in 2021 as an Environmental Studies Major. You can find her phenomenal notecards at the farmer’s markets!
Sanah Petersen
Sanah comes to Ridgway Farm via Nepal, Africa and the Hudson Valley. Sanah is an excellent potter and collaborates with local potters such as Todd Piker. Sanah’s bright smile is often seen tending to the flowers, and greeting customers at our farmer’s markets. Looking for a great present? Ridgway Farm flowers inside one of Sanah’s flower vases.
Ellery Kiefer
Ellery comes to Ridgway Farm via Wayland, MA and Johnson, VT. She is a tremendous athlete. She competes nationwide as a triathlete and also plays basketball at the collegiate level at Northern Vermont University at Johnson. She is majoring in outdoor education and is eager to share her love of the outdoors with others. Ellery’s grandfather, George, and Gordon’s mother, Kitty danced at a high school dance in the 1930’s!
Rocco Botto
Rocco worked up at the farm for over 6 years full-time and was know for his prowess with the wheel hoe. He still helps out when needed.
